Getting started

Register a cooperative housing society in West Bengal

Legal registration is done by the Registrar of Co-operative Societies, not by COOPMAN. Here is the outline — and how to bring the society online afterwards.

Who
The promoter members of the proposed society.
Cost
The Registrar charges statutory fees for registration. Bringing the registered society onto COOPMAN is free.
  1. Form the promoter group

The intending members agree to form the society and choose a chief promoter.

  2. Prepare the application

This includes the proposed name, the proposed bye-laws, the list of promoter members and their share contributions, and the documents the Registrar asks for.

    Acts and Rules
  3. Apply to the Registrar

The application is made to the Registrar of Co-operative Societies (through the office for your area) under the West Bengal Co-operative Societies Act, 2006 and the 2011 Rules. The Registrar issues the certificate of registration.

  4. Bring it online

Once registered, list the society on COOPMAN and let the Secretary or Chairman claim management.

    List a society

This guide describes how COOPMAN works and gives a general outline only. It is not legal advice; your society’s bye-laws and current law apply.
